Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine, a singer-composer recognized for his distinctive mix that combines soul jazz R&B and R&B. Sunshine has appeared on Broadway, at the Democratic National Convention and in the European clubs and festivals. Sunshine was born Denise White. While she's based in Atlanta but her origins are from Chester Pennsylvania. There she initially began her journey as an artist by playing the piano and singing in the church. Following her graduation from Spellman College, Atlanta she embarked on her musical path in the Atlanta's R&B culture. The Fighting Temptations The first single with her vocals was Stalk You which was a house 12-inch released exclusively in Japan; it has since been re-mixed by many producers and remains a mainstay of her live set. Her voice was also featured on the soundtrack for The Fighting Temptations. She was the pianist in Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 to serve as the director of chorus for Dreamgirls, the theatre production at Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was noticed by the nation during the four shows per day of the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Sunshine followed up with being asked to sing in the presence of the President Barack Obama at his inauguration.
